Collection of non-personal information
In general, you can browse the IEA website without disclosing any information about yourself. If you visit the IEA website to read or download information, we collect and store only the following information: the date and time, the originating IP address, the domain name, the type of browser and operating system used (if provided by the browser), the URL of the referring page (if provided by the browser), the object requested and the completion status of the request. This information is automatically recognised and is collected for the purposes of website traffic analysis, technical support and for securing and maintaining the IEA website. The information is anonymously recorded and it is used and analysed only at an aggregate level; none of it is reviewed at an individual level. The information is retained for a maximum period of 2 years.
Cookies and Other Technologies
No applications will place cookies on your workstation when you visit the IEA website. However we use server-based cookies for Online Bookshop sessions which will save your password so you don’t have to re-enter it at each new visit. If your browser rejects cookies, you may still use our website.
Registering on the IEA website is optional. If you choose not to register or provide personal information, you can still use the IEA website. However, you will not be able to purchase publications or receive email alerts. If you choose to register, the information will be used only for the specific stated purpose and will never be disclosed to third parties. You can choose at any time to unsubscribe from the website by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and your name and email address will be deleted from these registers.
We won't use your personal information to contact you for marketing purposes (other than to notify you of new publications or online services, as outlined below) or to promote new services to you. However we (or someone we specifically engage for this purpose) may use your personal information to contact you to help us improve our products, services or content and we may transfer your personal information to such other person for this purpose.
When purchasing from our Online Bookshop, you will be asked to provide the following information: name, full postal address, telephone number, fax number (optional) and your email address. This personal data is retained in a database so you won’t need to re-enter your details again if you’re a returning customer. You will also be asked to indicate if you wish to be included in the list for notification of new IEA publications.
Subscribers to the Online Data Service are asked to provide similar details (name, postal address, e-mail address and telephone number), which are also retained in a database.

If we ask you to provide us with your personal information in any another context, we undertake to use that information only for the stated purposes. We will not use the information for any other purpose without your consent. For example, we will not provide your personal information to third parties unless that is one of the stated purposes for its collection and if it is not, we will not provide it to third parties unless we have your consent.
Access to personal information
You can ask us whether we are keeping personal data about you, and you can also request to receive a copy of that personal data. However, before responding to your requests and sending you any personal data, we will ask you to provide proof of your identity. If you are not able to provide this, we reserve the right to refuse to send you the personal data.
We will make a genuine effort to respond in a timely manner to your requests or to correct inaccuracies in your personal information. At any time, you may request that we delete or correct your personal information in our registers. For such requests, please contact email@example.com.

We will continue to enhance our security procedures as new technology becomes available. We strictly enforce privacy safeguards within the IEA and IEA employees who have access to personal data are obliged to respect the privacy and confidentiality of such data.
