IEA Privacy Protection
The International Energy Agency respects and protects the privacy of visitors to our website. Our privacy policy statement describes what information iea.org may collect from you, and how we may use this information. We undertake to ensure that any personal information you may submit to us remains private and is used only in strict accordance with this privacy policy statement.
For the purposes of website traffic analysis, and to protect against possible intrusion, a log of all visits to the website is maintained. Other than the IP address of the visitor’s browser, the information recorded is entirely anonymous. This information is analysed regularly in order to help us improve our service delivery. The logs are retained for a maximum period of 2 years.
Visitors to the website are invited to register their e-mail address on-line to receive various IEA newsletters, or notification of new IEA publications. These e-mail address registers are used only for the specific advertised purpose, and will never be disclosed to third parties. An e-mail address may be deleted from these registers at all times by sending an e-mail to unsubscribe@iea.org. Distribution of notifications and newsletters may be carried out through a third-party e-mail dispatch service.
Clients of our on-line Bookshop are asked to complete delivery details (name, full postal address, telephone number (optional, although necessary for express delivery), fax number (optional) and their e-mail address. This information is retained in a proprietary database structure for 18 months in order to facilitate returning customers. Bookshop clients are asked if they wish to be included in the list for notification of new IEA publications only.
Subscribers to the Online Data Service are asked to complete similar details (name, postal address, e-mail address and telephone number). This information is retained while the subscription remains valid.
No applications place cookies on a visitor’s workstation. A server-based cookie is maintained for the duration of a Bookshop session only.
Both the Bookshop and the Online Data Service use a secure external payments server to process credit-card payments for purchases. (Payment by cheque or bank transfer is possible for all transactions.)
No information concerning visitors to this website will be disclosed to third parties. The information will only be used for the specific purpose for which it was collected. All IEA employees and other agents who have access to the personal data stored on the website are obliged to respect the confidentiality of such data.
Any changes in this privacy policy statement will be posted on the website before taking effect.
